Revelation 2-3
When determining where you stand in the eyes of God, make sure your attitude is a Godly one. Notes.
Romans 1:16-22, 28-32
When you are facing those of debased mind do not be surprised by failure; do not give up; keep on doing the job that God has given you to do. Their reaction exposes them, revealing to whom they belong. It is their judgment that is at hand—by their own actions.
Ezekiel 1:28b-2:7; James 1:2-4; 2 Corinthians 2:12-17
When you are facing stiff resistance do not be surprised; do not give up; keep on doing the job that God has given you to do. Their reaction exposes them, revealing to whom they belong. It is their judgment that is at hand—by their own actions.
1 John 4:7-18
A simple confessional and prayer session along with, hopefully, some encouragement; and yes, I do ask for help in this one. So, if you think that makes this spam then I don't need you listening, so please just go away. For the rest, please do listen, and please pray.
UPDATE: In the interests of honesty, it must be stated that the challenge of the electric bill has been met, but that there remain many more challenges as yet unmet, so continue praying, for that is the will of God.
Judges 6:11-7:23
It is when you have recognized and accepted your own lack of power, righteousness and goodness and genuinely look to God that you begin to see the power and grace of God in your life.
Daniel 9:27; John 19:30; John 14:6; John 1:3; Romans 11:36 Notes
Romans 11:36 can be used as an encouragement to gauge your life of walking with Christ, by remembering that He is the source, pathway, and destination of all things.
Luke 2:1-7; John 4:1-42
In looking back, you will see that, for God’s purposes to be served, your trial is something that you had to go through.
2 Corinthians 1:3-14; Exodus 3:1-12; Exodus 4:10-17
Who are you trusting? What are you afraid of? Why do you fear? Is God not on the throne?
2011 edition of the annual Hymn Sing (scratchy throat and all).
Psalm 136
You saw the sun rise today; you are not in eternal damnation; His grace still abounds; you still have time to repent; so give thanks to Yahweh (who IS God), for He is good.
Romans 1:13-32; Habakkuk 2:4; Psalm 119:94
You can neither recognize nor comprehend the grace of God except you first recognize and comprehend the awful depth of your own affront to God.
John 1:1-17 (MOT: my own translation); John 14:6 (MOT); John 3:19-21 (reference only); Psalm 139 (NAS95); Romans 7:7-25 (ESV); 1 Corinthians 2:14 (NIV); John 8:31-36 (ESV); Luke 17:1 (MOT); Psalm 121 (NAS95, but using the Lord’s true name) Notes
Armistice Day is a celebration of Victory, Freedom, and Peace. Let this be A Personal Armistice Day.
Psalm 23; Malachi 4 notes
When God is watching, it should not be a source of fear, but of confidence.
Genesis 1:1; Exodus 7-11; John 10:17-18; John 20:1-10 notes
Creation, Logic, and History, taken together, tell us that there is a God, that there can only be one God, and that Jesus Christ is that God.
Matthew 5:11-12 notes
If you are being slandered because of your witness for Jesus Christ, do not fret over it, but rather, rejoice, for God has counted you worthy to be treated just as He was when He walked this earth. It is not a punishment, but a high honor. Rejoice!
Philippians 1:12-26
Paul warns and encourages the believers in Philippi using the famous line, “For me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain”, telling them that he would rather be in Heaven with Christ, but that he was sure that he would remain in this life to help them.
Hebrews 4:13-16; Luke 11:14-15; John 8:31-59; Romans 3; Habakkuk 2:2-4; Psalm 22; Psalm 139
Do you feel abandoned? In privation? Falsely accused? Forgotten? Because things are not going as you hoped they would go? Because your rose-colored glasses are being muddied by reality? These are all things that Jesus Christ walked through in this earth. Whatever you are going through, as a child of the King, you are being made to show the character of the King more clearly, so you are walking the paths that He walked. Take heart. He is the Good Shepherd who does not lose His sheep, and He won’t lose you.
Ezekiel 43:1-5; 1 Kings 18
With caution I present this, and ask, “Finally, after so many long years and so much prayer, is God bringing an awakening to the West?”
1 Kings 19; 2 Kings 2; Malachi 3:1; Malachi 4:5-6; Luke 1:17; Matthew 11:14; Matthew 17:10-13; Matthew 21:26; Matthew 26:41; Mark 1:2-3; Mark 9:11-13; Mark 14:38; John 21:18-22
(no passages were directly read, but the stories spoken of can be found in these passages; see also Was John the Baptist Elijah?)
This one references (and, in part includes) a conversation with the Lord, seeking His guidance and my own obedience to that guidance. I hope that, in sharing this, it ministers to you, as well.
Ezekiel 25; Jeremiah 29
When you feel yourself “in exile”, seek the welfare of the place where you are, and no matter how you got there—do not seek revenge.
Matthew 22:34-40; Mark 12:28-34; Luke 10:25-37; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Leviticus 19:15-18; also with an unspecified reference to John 8:3-11
Contrary to the wishes and efforts of the mainstream media, do not give in to hatred, because you are not righteous, and therefore have no room to hate anyone.
Psalms 120, 121, and 23
Keeping your focus on the One Who actually can help.
Psalm 119:145-176; Lamentations 3
Getting your focus back where it belongs can reconnect you with the hope that comes from God.
Jeremiah 40-41; Psalm 119:81-96
When the Babylonians conquered Judah, in spite of the many assurances of the Babylonian representatives, many of the Judeans were afraid to live under them, not because of what those Judeans had done, but because of what one of their leaders had done. This passage convicted me because of my own living in fear. David reflects it somewhat in his own writings, as well, but he manages to get his focus back on the right target. So, why do you fear?
2 Timothy 4:1-5; Proverbs 29:2; Psalm 14; When fools rule the people suffer. So who are the fools, and when will they repent?
Psalm 119:49-56
How is it that David is able to say such things?
What do you lack, and how do you gain it?
We all need it, but where do you find it?
How is it that one is to turn away from and resist temptation? As found in the Prophets, the Epistles, and the Gospels, you recognize and acknowledge your guilt and your evil, ask Him for forgiveness, then walk, in repentance, with Him.
Scripture tells us to pray for our leaders, and therefore to pray for our nation. When you do—tell the truth about our nation; because God knows the truth about it, and He WILL tell it like it really is instead of as we might wish it was.
So, who is it that you are to listen to? Throughout the Scriptures the One pointed to is Jesus Christ.
When you begin to get messages from the Lord ( be they through preachers, acquaintances, friends, strangers, signs, Scripture, or even directly from God himself), will you listen?
When trials and troubles strike, how quickly do you remember the One who has brought you ALL of your victories before? In a bit of a self-instructional (and, just now occurring to me) I give the basis for knowing that situation from both sides: Not only, how hard is it for you to remember your Savior, but how does it feel to be forgotten by someone you have helped through hard times before? I share from both sides, and, hopefully, this can serve as an inspiration for “returning to Bethel” as it is set in Genesis, or, in our own lives, for repentance and a return to the faith granted as a gift by God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Fix your eyes upon Jesus, the Calmer of all Storms, or, put another way, “Look to the Cross” for all your needs.
Joe Farah, of WorldNetDaily, is once again engaging in what Hank Hanagraaf calls “Newspaper Eschatology”. The Truth is in Jesus, not in the headlines. Newspaper eschatology is a wrong path that will lead you into heresy and into Hell, and not into Heaven, so don't go there.
Many thanks to Harold Camping for being so timely in providing a perfect example of what I was talking about last episode.
And, just in case anyone is wondering, the recording for this episode has been online since before 11am (CDT) Saturday, May 21, 2011: http://tinyurl.com/3kewapu
What is the truth and what is a lie, and how do you tell the difference?
1 Corinthians 1:27; John 14:6
Luke 13:1-5; Ezekiel 33:10-11
When you celebrate the death of the wicked, who is it, really, that you are thinking you are better than?
When you find yourself ridiculed by fools, don’t let it stop you. You keep speaking for God.
